Today's north Alabama weather: All rain to end this morning, high near 71

All rain should be over with before 1 p.m. No more rain is in the forecast the rest of the week and weekend. An influx of slightly cooler air will bring the region's highs into the upper 60s to low 70s with some 10 mph winds in the afternoon. Tonight will be even colder than usual in the mid-40s.

 

Huntsville man hospitalized, 7 units evacuated in fire at Westbrooke Apartments

One chief said the actual fire was not as severe as they originally thought but was still enough to do plenty of damage. It originated from an upstairs unit, and crews cut the power to the building as the firefight began. He said the heavy smoke made it difficult to find the fire at first, but crews were able to quickly locate and contain the flames. One man was taken to Huntsville Hospital's emergency room. His condition was not clear, but firefighters did not expect the injuries to be life-threatening.

North Alabama, southern Tennessee utility crews work to restore power to storm-ravaged areas

Athens Utilities reports 7,500 are still without power. Around 16,000 customers were without power late Monday night.
