A Huntsville pastor has called for a boycott of against convenience stores that sell items that can be used as drug paraphernalia. AL.com readers are nearly split on the issue of whether selling those items should be illegal.

WHNT reports an officer tried to pull a vehicle over at a stop sign on Moulton Street at about 12:30 a.m. when the car sped off. A chase ensued across Alabama 24, during which speeds reached more than 100 mph. A Trinity officer and Lawrence County deputies also joined the chase.

Police responded to the scene shortly before 11 p.m. They say a man went to Huntsville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies have charged 37-year -old Jaymy Parrck with first-degree assault. They say he and the victim were arguing outside a home in the 900 block of County Line Road when Parrck stabbed the man in the chest with a pocket knife. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable condition.

University Drive: Cash and a case of motor oil were stolen in a burglary at Landers McLarty Chevrolet between 10 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 a.m. Monday.

The National Weather Service forecast shows virtually identical conditions today and Wednesday. The high will be in the mid-80s except for some high terrain areas in northeast Alabama that could be a few degrees lower. Overnight temperatures will be in the upper 50s.

The Huntsville school district already has a potential buyer for Butler High, one of two campuses set to close over the next few years under a pending rezoning plan. Another buyer is interested in both Stone Middle and West Huntsville Elementary.

Huntsville's Grissom and Jemison high schools will become the home of "Greenpower USA," the American branch of a British organization that helps teach STEM education through electric car races.
