Willamalane hires deputy superintendent

A 26-year parks and recreation veteran joined Willamalane Park and Recreation District last week. Seve Ghose succeeds Jason Genck as the district’s deputy superintendent. Genck took a similar position in Colorado in April. Ghose was most recently director of parks and recreation with the city of Davenport, Iowa.

Springfield’s new school superintendent, Hertica Martin, is looking forward to starting the new school year with an address to the staff at her Superintendent’s Welcome event at 8:30 a.m. on Sept.

Springfield police log Aug. 2-8

Incidents FRIDAY, Aug. 2 Dispute: 8:59 p.m., 900 block Main Street. Police responded to a dispute between two men near a bowling alley. A caller said one of the men kept lifting up his shirt, saying he had a gun. Menacing: 6:36 p.m., 42nd and Main streets.
