Man shot dead on Dunlap Street

Patrolling Lancaster police officers found a man shot to death on East Dunlap Street downtown early Wednesday.

A man was found shot to death on East Dunlap Street in Lancaster early Wednesday, and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office has identified him as 47-year-old Terry Louis “Butch” Thompson.     

 

Gunshot victim found by police on East Dunlap Street

Patrolling city police officers found a gunshot victim lying on the ground early Tuesday near the intersection of East Dunlap Street and Thomas Lane.
Officers found the victim about 1:17 a.m., they went to check on the person, found the victim had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was dead, according to a Lancaster Police Department release.

$27K in jewelry thefts reported

Two Lancaster County women reported separate jewelry thefts totaling more than $27,000 from their homes in the past month.
A Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office incident report said one victim reported that $21,800 in jewelry was stolen from her home in the 2700 block of Dusty Trail Lane on Oct. 21. She told investigators she believed someone she knew stole the jewelry earlier in the month.

City grant will design downtown event space

Competing against 52 other cities, Lancaster has received a $25,000 Hometown Economic Development Grant from the S.C. Municipal Association, scoring highest among all the applicants.
The grant was awarded to 10 cities this year, up from eight last year. Lancaster ranked No. 1 on its eligibility rating among the winning cities.
“I think it speaks well for the city and what we’re trying to do with our central business district,” Mayor John Howard said.

 

Grisly murder scene, husband arrested

A 58-year-old woman’s body was found by her daughters Sunday morning at her Lancaster home, apparently beaten to death with a hammer, and her husband has been charged with murder.

 

Man charged in wife’s killing

A 58-year-old woman was found dead by her daughter Sunday morning at a South York Street home and her husband has been charged with allegedly killing her with a hammer.
Mildred Burris Arnold has been identified as the victim, according to the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.
