The Country Life: A Laid-back Goat Joins The Menagerie

Meet Chica. Chica, a LaMancha goat, is the new companion for Nana, our other goat. Nana had been without a buddy since the death of Christmas, detailed in a previous column. We bought Chica (then named Goat Girl) from a young couple in Hanover who had sort of inherited her. While Christmas - a rescue goat from Black Forest Animal Sanctuary - was skittish around people, Chica seems to love attention and runs to greet us when we approach. As DairyGoatJournal.com observes, LaManchas are noted for their apparent lack of - or much reduced - external ears.
