Man arrested on DUI manslaughter charge after crashing into bicyclist in Boca Raton

A New Jersey man was arrested in Boca Raton on Sunday morning after he allegedly crashed into a bicyclist, killing him, while driving under the influence, police said. Thomas Vayianos, 35, was driving a Chevy Equinox shortly after 7 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Ocean Boulevard, where bicyclist Felipe Soares De Moraes, 41, was riding his bike north in the right half of the single travel lane, according to a probable cause affidavit. A witness who was also riding his bike told police after the crash that the Equinox had passed him in the 1200 block of North Ocean Boulevard, swerving and driving “so closely he could touch the vehicle,” according to the affidavit.
