Man sentenced to life in prison for fatally beating girlfriend at Commerce City hotel

A 28-year-old man will spend the rest of his life in prison after beating his girlfriend to death in a Commerce City hotel room in 2022, according to prosecutors and court records. On July 21, 2022, Adams County deputies arrested Angel Santana after they were called to the scene of the gruesome beating, where they found Santana’s severely injured girlfriend as well as pieces of the victim’s hair and blood spattered throughout the room. Santana’s hands were also injured, and his story changed as he was questioned by investigators, with Santana saying initially that he blacked out and didn’t know what happened to his girlfriend. Santana was found guilty of first-degree murder last month and sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole Thursday.
