Dangerous avalanche conditions coming to Colorado high country this week

With more than half of Colorado’s ski areas forecast to receive more than 20 inches of snowfall over the next five days, and the West Elk mountains near Crested Butte anticipated to receive more than three feet, the Colorado Avalanche Information Center is warning backcountry travelers that dangerous avalanche conditions are coming with the storm. Popular backcountry areas will see significant snow accumulations, according to the OpenSnow forecasting and reporting service.
