Hips don’t lie: Who’s to blame for the Heat’s highly unusual schedule? That would be Shakira

INDIANAPOLIS — Few segments of the Heat’s scheduling over their 37 seasons make as little sense on the surface as what is about to follow. With the completion of a six-game trip Sunday night against the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the Heat immediately have to turn around to face the Philadelphia 76ers at Kaseya Center on Monday. The nonsensical part is that after that back-to-back set, the Heat then are idle for five consecutive days before a home game a week from Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks. So who’s to blame? Oddly, Shakira. Instead of going forward with a pair of concerts scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday at Kaseya Center, plans were changed in October to move shows of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour from arenas to stadiums at future dates, including the Miami stop being relocated to Hard Rock Stadium on June 6. The Colombian singer posted on social media of the changes, “My production has grown to such a scale, along with the demand for tickets and more shows, that it has exceeded even the most optimistic expectations.
