Ex-officer sentenced, another withdraws plea in Lauderhill police misconduct case

A former Lauderhill police officer was sentenced to four years in prison that he may not have to serve, while his colleague decided to withdraw his no-contest plea in a strange case of sexual police misconduct. Franklin Hartley, 44, pleaded no contest in August 2023 to unlawful compensation and battery. He was accused of luring two women from a Lauderhill strip club to the parking area behind a Tamarac tire shop in May 2012, then having sex with one of the women in exchange for refusing to write a traffic ticket. Prosecutors and the victim wanted Hartley to be incarcerated.
