Perhaps the most shocking part of the election is that the polls were basically right, we are in a 50/50 place. It doesn’t make the outcome substantially different, but know that you are not alone; about half the country is in shock right now. He falsely claimed the five men had pleaded guilty to a brutal rape and assault on a woman known as the Central Park jogger, that she eventually died and that the mayor agreed with his full-page ad in The New York Times calling for the five’s execution.

And Wednesday afternoon it came to an end, unable to overcome Donald Trump’s sweeping wins in former Democratic strongholds. Harris walked out for her final speech of the campaign on the Yard at her alma mater Howard University, in front of a crowd dotted with reddened eyes and cheeks wet with tears.
