When the 2001 Hurricanes were up eight points on rival FSU at halftime, star safety Ed Reed yelled to his teammates to remind them what fellow captain Joaquin Gonzalez had told them. The saying would later adorn Miami fans’ shirts and hats. “Joaquin said dominate!” Reed said. “And we’re not doing it!” Miami went on to win that game 49-27 en route to an undefeated season and a national title.
