Just a few years after Netflix announced its move into gaming, the streaming company appears to be pulling back slightly as it quietly shuts down its triple-A gaming studio. Known internally as ‘Team Blue,’ the gaming studio was only revealed in October of 2022. It included industry veterans including Chacko Sonny, Joseph Staten, and Rafael Grassetti but it was on Tuesday (October 22) when GameFile reported it had been shut down. The report states: “As of October 2024, however, Netflix has shut down Team Blue and all three of those big hires are no longer at the company, a company rep confirmed to GameFile.” The studio is said to be one of a handful of internal studios Netflix has assembled over the last few years. It was only a month ago when Joseph Staten, the Creative Director at Netflix Games, posted a job advert on LinkedIn for a Senior Technical Narrative Designer. In the post, he said: “We’ve got big narrative ambitions on team “Blue” at Netflix Games and we need great people to help us achieve them.
