AMES, Iowa — Heartbreaking. That’s the only way to describe UCF’s 38-35 loss at No. 9 Iowa State late on Saturday night. The Knights led by double digits in the second half but were outscored 24-7 in the final 24 minutes. Cyclones quarterback Rocco Becht’s 1-yard touchdown run with 30 seconds left sent UCF to its fourth straight loss. Not since UCF’s second-half collapse against Baylor last September has a loss felt as debilitating. “We didn’t make the plays with the game on the line and they did and that’s a big reason we lost,” a dejected Gus Malzahn said following the loss.
