Stat line: 19 of 33, 216 passing yards, two touchdowns, an interception; six carries for 61 yards.
Highlight: The highlight from Nix’s performance wasn’t even a passing play. In the third quarter, Nix escaped a sack from edge rusher Bud Dupree before scrambling for an impressive 21-yard gain while pointing at linebacker Daiyan Henley as he ran out of bounds.
Initial thoughts from the Broncos’ 23-16 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6 at Empower Field at Mile High:
Bueller’s day off: It was there on Bo Nix’s very first throw of the day — a third-and-8 shot downfield to Marvin Mims Jr. that sailed on the rookie quarterback and into the hands of safety Elijah Molden.
There’s a saying in hockey that the sport should really be called “goalie.”
If we split it into two parts, the hockey for the Colorado Avalanche is just fine, especially considering the circumstances. And the guys who are in charge of the hockey part believe the goalie half is going to come around.
“To be honest, I think we’re actually playing some pretty good hockey,” Avs forward Logan O’Connor said.
Broncos All-Pro cornerback Pat Surtain II suffered a concussion in the first quarter Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers and will not return to the game.
Surtain had tight coverage on Chargers receiver Ladd McConkey and broke up a pass, but hit his head on the turf as they rolled over.
Surtain stayed on the ground for a couple of minutes while being attended to by medical staff.
