Ten years ago, almost to this day, at 2:30 in the morning, I stood in the Fort Lauderdale City Commission chambers at a hearing and begged them not to approve the 170-foot-tall AquaBlu condo building in a small single-family residential neighborhood, known as Sunrise Intercoastal. Now, I’m a big fan of new development in Fort Lauderdale, but this project location felt wrong; it was out of place, adjacent to single family homes.
