Former President Donald Trump this week said he will soon visit Aurora, a proposed campaign stop the city’s mayor welcomes as an opportunity to help dispel false claims the municipality has been taken over by a violent Venezuelan gang. Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman said he wants the city’s chief of police to have the opportunity to brief Trump on Aurora’s successful efforts to identify and arrest members of Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan gang that has a presence in the metro area. Aurora police said they have identified 10 suspected TdA members and arrested nine of them. Trump announced plans to visit Aurora and Springfield, Ohio, “in the next two weeks” during a Wednesday night campaign speech in Uniondale, New York. “You may never see me again, but that’s OK,” Trump said to the crowd, implying that the two cities were dangerous.
