Fresh off his Oscar nomination for Best Actor in Rustin, Colman Domingo is now in talks to join Steven Spielberg's untitled event film alongside a star-studded cast. Spielberg is set to return to the summer movie action with his latest project, written by frequent collaborator and legendary screenwriter David Koepp.

Inside Out 2 is the biggest movie of 2024, but many of the people who worked to bring the film to life have bittersweet emotions, as they were laid off one month before it opened. To add insult to injury, despite Inside Out 2 becoming the highest-grossing animated movie of all time with $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office, many Pixar employees did not receive any additional bonus due to Disney laying them off in between the film wrapping production and its theatrical release.

A24's upcoming sports movie starring Timothe Chalamet adds Grammy-winning artist Tyler, the Creator to the star-studded cast. Uncut Gems' Josh Safdie directs the ping pong-based film, which will mark Tyler's feature film debut as an actor. The rapper-singer adds intrigue to an already exciting project, helmed by a filmmaker that revels in hiring first-time actors in major roles.

Pixar seemingly thinks that Lightyear bombed at the box office due to a blink-and-you'll-miss-it same-sex kiss, which led the studio to make changes to Inside Out 2. A spinoff of the successful Toy Story franchise and the studio's first major movie in theaters in two years following the COVID-19 pandemic, Lightyear became a high-profile flop for Pixar.

While James Cameron is deep into post-production on Avatar: Fire and Ash and in development for Avatar 4 & 5, he has found a new project outside of Pandora. Deadline has learned that Cameron purchased the rights to Charles R. Pellegrinos forthcoming Ghosts of Hiroshima as well as his 2015 book Last Train From Hiroshima, both of which will be combined into one "uncompromising theatrical film." The movie will be titled Last Train From Hiroshima and focuses on the true story of a Japanese man during World War II who survived the atomic blast at Hiroshima and then the nuclear explosion in Nagasaki after taking a train.

Netflix's I Think You Should Leave creator and star Tim Robinson acts alongside Paul Rudd in Friendship, an upcoming comedy that has just been acquired by A24. The film follows a suburban family man played by Robinson who becomes dangerously obsessed with a charming new neighbor (Rudd). Directed by Andrew DeYoung (Our Flag Means Death), Friendship has officially landed a distributor after receiving glowing reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere.
