GAINESVILLE — Shortly before their season-opening game against Florida, Miami lost a key commitment. Four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez backed off his UM pledge on Saturday, posting about his decision on social media. Melendez was one of the Hurricanes’ longest-tenured commits in the 2025 class. He committed to Miami in December 2023. Melendez, who plays for Kissimmee Osceola High is rated a four-star prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings.
