Northern Colorado adds KMKZ 93.5 FM as new radio partner for Bears football broadcasts

Less than a week before the University of Northern Colorado’s first football game of the season, the athletic department has a new radio partner for game coverage. KMKZ 93.5 FM Pirate Radio in Fort Collins will pick up broadcasting all of UNC football’s 12 games this season — home and away, according to station general manager and owner George Gray and UNC Athletics. The nonprofit station, which is now a different entity and under different ownership from KELS 104.7 FM Pirate Radio in Greeley, stepped in over the past two weeks to take on coverage after conversations with UNC athletics department officials, Gray said. UNC begins its football season Saturday at the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas.
