Chris Perkins: Dolphins edge rushers, led by Chop Robinson and Emmanuel Ogbah, off to an encouraging start

When you see Miami Dolphins rookie edge rusher Chop Robinson, the first-round pick from Penn State, utilizing his lightning-quick first step to blow past an offensive tackle and record a sack in training camp practices, that’s reason to get encouraged. When you see Dolphins edge rusher Emmanuel Ogbah dipping into his veteran toolbox and utilizing his speed and strength to record a training camp sack, that’s reason to get very encouraged. These “sacks” from Robinson and Ogbah — they don’t really tackle the quarterback during practice; no team actually tackles its quarterbacks — have happened on multiple occasions and in multiple practices. Such sightings are good news from a Dolphins training camp that’s been pumping out good news at a high volume recently. Such sightings mean the Dolphins might have edge rushers other than Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb capable of making plays. And having multiple guys who can rush the passer is important, especially when you consider Phillips (Achilles) and Chubb (knee) might not be in uniform when the Dolphins open their regular season by hosting Jacksonville and quarterback Trevor Lawrence on Sept.
