Car crashes into powerlines in Aurora, shuts down power, Havana Street

All lanes of Havana Street in Aurora are closed Saturday morning after a car struck and downed a section of powerlines — causing a power outage — before fleeing the scene. Havana Street closed between Del Mar Parkway and East 10th Street after the crash happened around 4:00 a.m., according to the Aurora Police Department. A description of the suspect vehicle and an estimated time for when the road would reopen was not available Saturday morning. As of 9:45 a.m., Xcel Energy reported that 559 Aurora homes in the area of the crash didn’t have power.
