Comment on Lawsuit Filed in Case of Teen Who Died After Eating Spicy Chip for Online Challenge

The 14-year-old boy charged with killing a Denver bar bouncer last month was repeatedly released from custody in a preceding juvenile case over the objection of prosecutors who thought he posed a danger to the community, according to court records obtained by The Denver Post. The teenager was also wanted on a warrant at the time of the killing that would have kept him temporarily jailed without bond had he been arrested, records show. The teen, whom The Post is not naming because he is a juvenile, is charged with first-degree murder in the killing of 49-year-old William “Todd” Kidd on July 10 outside the Federales Denver bar at 29th and Larimer streets in Denver’s River North Arts District. Kidd, who worked at the bar, was intervening in a disturbance when he was shot, police have said.

RMNP Astronomy Fest Friday-Saturday. Lots of people will be seeing stars — weather permitting — when Rocky Mountain National Park hosts a free, nighttime astronomy festival on Friday, Aug. 2, and Saturday, Aug. 3, on both sides of the park. Some businesses and residents on a road near Sloan’s Lake are hoping the city takes a U-turn on a proposed protected bike lane that would eliminate street parking for the entire corridor. “I want to make it very clear that if you guys do not omit our corridor, you will very likely … kill my business,” Sarah Green said in a meeting with city officials last Friday. Colorado businesswoman Zaneta Kelsey sees no reason why resistance to diversity efforts in business should hold up legislation meant to even the playing field for entrepreneurs of color. Kelsey, CEO and co-founder of the tech startup accelerator Access Mode, is one of 14 Colorado businesspeople who have signed a letter urging congressional leaders to pass two bills that would increase the entrepreneurs’ access to capital.
