Comment on The Costumes in ‘Fancy Dance’ Do Sophisticated Storytelling — Without Needing to Be Fancy

The bikini costume worn by Carrie Fisher in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi is going up for auction later this month. Heritage Auctions in Dallas is offering the iconic costume, and additional Star Wars memorabilia, as part of its Hollywood Entertainment Signature Auction July 25-26. Bidding starts at $30,000, but could go as high as six figures.

Paul Mescal is known for appearing in emotional, heartbreaking roles, and it was one of his earliest hits that led Ridley Scott to cast him in the upcoming Gladiator II. Mescal has had an amazing last few years, appearing in Charlotte Wells' devastating Aftersun, and Andrew Haigh's mind-bending and heart-tugging All of Us Strangers.

With the John Wick franchise, director Chad Stahelski wanted to blend realistic martial arts, driving, and firearms, with a sprinkle of Hollywood magic. The comprehensive, 1,497-piece set includes the iconic Orca boat, its three crewmen Chief Martin Brody, Matt Hooper, and captain Quint and, of course (Bruce) the shark.

Sometimes, in comedy, the most genuine reactions tend to be the best responses and that is the very case for a moment that took place in the 2014 comedy, Neighbors. The film starred Zac Efron, Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, and Dave Franco, among others, and it turns out that an improvised scene in the movie got a real reaction out of Rogen, who was genuinely annoyed by their incorrect use of an impersonation of a specific actor.

Ridley Scotts Western movie Freewalkers has effectively been canceled due to the work of Mother Nature. The director was set to film his take on the popular genre this summer, but the shoot has been scrapped because the snowy landscape he intended to use has melted. While this sounds like an unusual reason for an entire movie to be tossed away, Scotts long-time collaborator, costume designer Janty Yates, was able to explain exactly why a lack of gleaming white snow proved to be an insurmountable problem for the production.
