Barclays is considering the use cases for a digital pound and how it might benefit the United Kingdom. The British banking giant outlined in a recent report how a digital currency could work alongside traditional finance to boost payment systems across the nation. The 333-year-old institution is one of the biggest companies in the UK with a market cap of around $32 billion.  Barclay’s exploration of a digital currency comes as governments around the world are looking into central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), with the Bank of England currently designing a possible UK CBDC. Elon Musk’s X remains banned in Brazil following the country’s withdrawal of $3.3 million from the bank accounts of both the social media platform and the satellite-based internet service provider, Starlink, to cover fines. Flutter Entertainment has expanded its presence in South America with a 56% share in NSX Group. The Brazilian company, which promotes the Betnacional brand, has agreed to let Flutter enter the market for $350m. NSX is Brazil’s fourth-largest gambling operator, with an expected revenue of approximately $256m and Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) of roughly $34m in 2024.
