A US official said the money would cover the cost of the war through the end of the year. The US has provided Ukraine more than $100 billion in security and financial assistance since 2022. The Biden administration on Thursday formally asked Congress for billions more in aid to help Ukraine during its stalled counteroffensive against Russia, setting up a fight with a Republican-led House where there is growing skepticism of Washington's support for Kyiv.In a letter addressed to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, the White House requested more than $24 billion for assistance to Ukraine and other "international needs."The request includes $13.1 billion for equipment and other military assistance to Ukraine, as well as the cost of replenishing the United States' own diminished weapons stockpiles.
