Police: California woman rerouted MCC administrator's direct deposit to personal bank account

A California woman is wanted by police after they say she rerouted a McHenry County College administrator's paycheck to a potentially forged bank account. Lois Anne Letterman, 57, of the 10300 block of Western Avenue, Downey, California is charged with theft, forgery and identity theft. The most serious charge, identity theft of more than $2,000, typically is punishable by as many as seven years in prison. Although prosecutors with the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office are not seeking Letterman's extradition from California to Illinois, she could be detained if she enters the Illinois or specific nearby states, MCC Police Chief Mike Clesceri said. Reached by phone Wednesday, prosecutors declined to comment on the charges. According to a criminal complaint filed with the McHenry County Circuit Clerk's Office Tuesday, Letterman is accused of authorizing a direct deposit in an administrator's name on Sept.
