One person was killed and three others were “seriously injured” in a Commerce City hit-and-run crash on Sunday, police said. The driver of an Audi SUV struck a family of four in their car near the intersection of Holly Street and East 58th Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the Commerce City Police Department. One person — an 18-year-old man — was killed in the crash that also injured his parents and another teenage passenger, police said.

Denver Parks and Recreation crews were cleaning and covering up graffiti Monday morning at City Park, city officials said in an emailed statement to the Denver Post. City officials said they weren’t sure when the graffiti happened, but they found out about it early Monday morning and immediately sent crews to clean it up. “This seems to be an isolated incident,” officials stated.

Initiated Ordinance 309 on Denver’s ballot would ban slaughterhouses in the city. There is only one such facility operating in Denver currently — and it accounts for up to 20% of the United States’ lamb processing capacity. The initiative is spearheaded by a group called Pro-Animal Future, which also placed a fur ban on Denver’s ballot in the Nov.

Aurora’s decades-long debate over whether to ban pit bulls should finally find resolution in the Nov. 5 election, when voters will have the final say on whether the controversial dog breed should be legal in Colorado’s third-largest city. The Aurora City Council referred Ballot Question 3A to voters earlier this year.

Denver Health has been struggling financially since 2022, and its leadership is asking voters in the Nov. 5 election to commit to funding it long-term through Ballot Issue 2Q. The system lost about $35 million in 2022 and posted a $17 million profit last year, but only after receiving one-time donations.
