SJ officials urging public to avoid contact with blue-green algae

San Joaquin County Public Health Services and the county’s environmental health department are urging swimmers, boaters and recreational water users this Labor Day weekend to avoid contact with blue-green algae, also known as cyanobacteria, that can bloom on the surface of reservoirs, rivers, creeks, lagoons, lakes and ponds.The algae blooms may appear green, blue-green, white or brown foam and scum floating on the water.
