App Search: iDon't and Neither Does Droid

With the iPhone, it's all about the apps. At least that's what the commercials on TV tell us. Naturally, I wanna see what apps are available on the App Store. Disappointingly, it only shows a categorized selection - out of the 100,000 that's available. Directories died a long time ago; just give me a search box. I was thinking that Google would be different with their Android Market for Android phones. After all, they are THE BEST search engine in the world. I was expecting how easy it would be to search their Android Market. But that's not the case. They only show you a sampling, just like the App Store except with fewer samples. I can understand how listing all of them would overwhelm a noob, but if it's all about the apps, why not let us search them on their respective sites? Why do I have to buy the phones to do that? I guess I've already answered my own question - buy the phone, then search apps. Yeah, like it's so much easier on the eyes to search for a bunch of apps in a tiny screen on the phone. It doesn't make sense for either prospective or existing users. An operating system is only as good as the software you run on it, and I would have to buy these phones just to see their full array of programs. Even though it's all about the apps, I would not be able to judge the phones based on them.
