2 students charged with terrorizing after making threat to Ellsworth school

Two Ellsworth Elementary Middle School students have been charged with terrorizing after another student allegedly overheard them threatening violent acts Wednesday afternoon. School officials received a report from a student who said around 2 p.m. Dec. 5, they overheard two other students making “threatening comments regarding violent acts at the school” to carry out the following day, Daniel Higgins, superintendent of schools for Ellsworth School Department, wrote in a letter to parents and guardians. After learning of the alleged threats, the school administration notified law enforcement and began an investigation, which was conducted along with the Ellsworth Police Department, Higgins said. “The investigation from both the school and law enforcement resulted in the determination that the students did make threatening comments but that the threats of violence are not viable,” Higgins wrote.
