Cold, cold and wet: November was colder, icier than normal

Cold, cold and wet. That's how National Weather Service meteorologist Ben Deubelbeiss described the month of November. "We're off to a fast start," said Deubelbeiss, who's based in Romeoville. "We're certainly running faster than normal on snow accumulation." He said the O'Hare snow measurement site has tracked 12.7 inches of snow this month. "We're almost a foot above normal," he said. It's also been colder than Novembers of years past. "We are running about 6.2 degrees below normal," he said. Deubelbeiss said there's no threat of an ice storm in the coming days, but melting snow could cause a "glaze" on roads that makes driving dangerous.
