Boys tennis: Union, Mountain View doubles win bi-district titles

Union and Mountain View doubles teams came away with bi-district boys tennis titles on the final day of the fall season. Players who clinched berths to state now wait until May for a chance at state titles. Here’s a recap of Saturday’s bi-district tennis results: 4A bi-district — Skyview’s doubles team of Joey Gaylor and Sean Wilcox booked a spot to state by placing sixth at the tournament in Kent. Already having clinched a state spot, Skyview’s Jonathan Hutley placed third with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in his final match over Union’s Naman Thawani in a rematch of the 4A district final. Union’s doubles team of Kyle Mosier and Jake Flentke won the bi-district, also in a rematch of the 4A district final over Akash Prasad and Jake Gianan of Camas. Union finished tied for first in the team standings with Kentridge.
