While campaigning for his first term in office, Gov. Jared Polis said he wanted to see 100% of the power on Colorado’s electric grid come from renewable energy sources by 2040. Coal plants across Colorado have been shut down with all of them expected to close by the end of 2030.

There’s a common theme for the Colorado Avalanche at the midway point of the 2024-25 season: It’s a team that hasn’t been quite as good as expected, but the context might help some awards voters.
