When we need “high-touch” healthcare the most, we encounter a dearth of partnership that has become unacceptable. Our healthcare system fails us when we need it most—during emergencies. Faced with crowded ERs or limited urgent care centers, patients are left without the immediate, expert care they deserve. This divide is particularly challenging for families and new parents, who often find themselves in ERs out of fear and a lack of better options.
