Police saying little about death of inmate after 5 weeks

The state has yet to release many details on the death more than five weeks ago of a 28-year-old man who was being held at the prison farm in Warren. Dana R. Bartlett died shortly before 6 p.m. June 24 at the Bolduc Correctional Facility, also known as the prison farm. Maine Medical Examiner’s Office Administrator Mark Belserene said that the cause of death is awaiting further study and it may be two weeks before toxicology tests are returned. Maine Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Tuesday that the investigation continues. “We know a great deal of what happened,” McCausland said. State Police detectives are working with the Corrections Department but further details on the case are not being released publicly. Maine Corrections Commissioner Joseph Fitzpatrick said Tuesday he cannot comment because there is an ongoing investigation.
