Court rejects appeal by ex-Colorado Springs cop's conviction for molesting students

The Colorado Court of Appeals on Thursday affirmed the 2012 conviction of ex-Colorado Springs police officer Joshua Carrier on charges he molested 18 middle school boys while serving as a volunteer wrestling coach. Carrier, who is reportedly being held in an out-of-state prison for his security, is serving a sentence of 70 years to life. The decision by the state Appeals Court comes five years after the appeal was filed, and concludes that Carrier received a fair trial under 4th Judicial District Judge David Gilbert. While appeals routinely take more than a year to resolve, the Carrier appeal involved an unusual number of victims and legal issues.
