El Paso County deputy fired, accused of sneaking drugs into jail

An El Paso County sheriff's deputy accused of helping inmates sneak illegal narcotics into the jail was fired Wednesday, the day after his arrest, said sheriff's spokeswoman Jacqueline Kirby. Steven D'Agostino, 35, who joined the Sheriff's Office in 2013, was arrested June 12 on suspicion of first-degree introducing contraband and unlawful possession of a Schedule II drug with intent to distribute, both felonies, and with first-degree official misconduct, a misdemeanor, court records show. He allegedly met with inmates' associates to pick up the drugs concealed in food products, then brought the food into the jail and distributed the drugs to inmates, his arrest affidavit shows.
