IMF: Clouds over the global economy are 'darker by the day'

Thomson Reuters Christine Lagarde warned that trade tensions are leading to clouds accumulating on the horizon of the global economy which are “getting darker by the day.” “The clouds on the horizon that we have signaled about six months ago are getting darker by the day, and, I was going to say, by the weekend,” Lagarde said in Berlin on Monday The comments were made following the G7 summit which ended with anger over trade tariffs. The managing director of the IMF, Christine Lagarde has warned that clouds accumulating on the horizon of the global economy are “getting darker by the day” amid the threat of a trade war and tit-for-tat tariffs.
