State determines health risk of Commerce Township residents living near contaminated property not at risk

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) said initial tests show the health of Commerce Township residents living near a long contaminated property is not at risk. In early May, the department began sub slab, or basement floor, testing in homes located near a property at the northeast corner of Union Lake and Cooley Lake roads found to have two below ground toxic plumes, which move through the soil and groundwater, and could lead to above
