Island Lake man faces heroin possession, delivery charges

On Thursday, police arrested an Island Lake man they said delivered heroin near a local park. Richard J. Susinka remained at the McHenry County Jail on Friday on a $125,000 bond. He must pay $12,500 bail to be released. Susinka, 36, of the 3300 block of Greenwich Lane, Island Lake, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance within 500 feet of a park and possession of a controlled substance. The most serious charge, possession of a controlled substance within 500 feet of a park, typically is punishable by four to 15 years in prison. Susinka is accused of delivering less than one gram of heroin near Veterans Memorial Park, 3400 Pearl St., McHenry, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday in McHenry County court. He was sentenced to two years of probation in 2007 on an unrelated drug paraphernalia charge, McHenry County public records show. Susinka is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
