The company has decided not to reapply for a permit to test self-driving in its home state. SAN FRANCISCO — Uber is completely halting its tests of self-driving car technology in its home state of California following a fatal crash in Arizona involving a pedestrian earlier this month — the first death caused by an autonomous vehicle.
