TAPPER: You said “I guarantee John Kelly talked with Harris’s campaign.” People close to Kelly and the Harris campaign say that’s not true. So where did that come from?
VANCE: I’m highly skeptical of that.
TAPPER: So you made it up?
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) expects he’ll get help from a “fully supportive” former President Trump in a potential speaker race in the next three months, Axios reports.
Said Johnson: “I have a very close working relationship with President Trump and consider him now a close friend. I know that’s mutual, and he tells me how much confidence he has in my leadership.”
Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) plans to run again to serve as GOP conference chair, but she’s also eyeing the United Nations ambassadorship if Donald Trump wins the White House, Punchbowl News reports.
“Steve Bannon is getting out of prison, just in time for Election Day,” NOTUS reports.
“As Trump ramps up violent rhetoric about weaponizing the Justice Department against judges, prosecutors and journalists while simultaneously utilizing the U. S. military against his perceived adversaries he calls ‘the enemy within,’ his 2024 presidential campaign will soon have one of its loudest and fiercest surrogates back.”
NBC News: “That takes time and persistence. But the Harris campaign believes it has marshaled enough people to saturate this patch of Pennsylvania, find these voters and turn them out in numbers that could be decisive in a tight race.”
