Nike exec departs suddenly under misconduct cloud

Top Nike executive Trevor Edwards left the company abruptly Thursday, following what the sportswear giant described as “conduct inconsistent with Nike’s core values and against our code of conduct.” The company said “there have been no direct allegations of misconduct against Trevor Edwards.” Nike spokesman Greg Rossiter declined to elaborate on the underlying issues or say whether anyone else is leaving the company. Nike, headquartered near Beaverton, issued a public statement describing Edwards’ exit as a “retirement.” In a memo to employees, though, portions of which first appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Parker indicated there was a lot more to the story. “Over the past few weeks, we’ve become aware of reports of behavior occurring within our organization that do not reflect our core values of inclusivity, respect and empowerment,” Parker wrote.
