Janelle Monroy held her head in one hand and cried quietly Wednesday as a prosecutor began tearing apart her defense in closing arguments designed to send her to prison for life. Monroy faces life in prison if convicted in the slaying of Placer sheriff’s Detective Michael Davis. Jr. Her husband, Luis Bracamontes, faces a possible death penalty sentence if convicted in the 2014 slayings of Davis and Sacramento sheriff’s Deputy Danny Oliver.
