You don’t listen to the music of composer Ashley Fure and hear a disembodied series of notes. In her work, the physical acts of producing sounds — the interplay of the human body with strings and percussion instruments — as well as the potentially unearthly sounds produced by electronics all play a central role. Fure, who is on the music faculty at Dartmouth, is in residence at Mills College, and a concert devoted to her music offers a rare chance to experience her work up close.
