The U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee sent letters this week to the CEOs of seven technology giants asking why the group decided to keep the chip vulnerabilities Spectre and Meltdown a secret for over six months, saying Silicon Valley’s traditional way of dealing with cybersecurity threats could be outdated. The committee sent letters to Intel Corp., Advanced Micro Devices, Apple, Alphabet's Google, Microsoft Corp., Amazon.com and Softbank-owned Arm Holdings.
