LOS ANGELES — The week before the LPGA Tour returns to San Francisco, the women’s tour makes its return to Los Angeles after a 12-year absence. The $1.5 million HUGEL-JTBC Open will be played April 19-22 at Wilshire Country Club, which has hosted previous LPGA, PGA and Champions Tour events. The 72-hole event announced Wednesday is part of the tour’s California swing that includes the year’s first major, the ANA Inspiration in Rancho Mirage, Kia Classic in Carlsbad (San Diego County) and an April 26-29 tournament at Lake Merced Golf Club in San Francisco. The Lake Merced event replaces the Swinging Skirts LPGA Championship, which moved from Lake Merced after 2016.
