Almost 30 years ago, an English playwright on a bus trip across the southern United States saw three small billboards along westbound Interstate 10 outside Beaumont. They were seared into his brain, and after he became a movie director, supplied inspiration for a major film. "Vidor Police Botched Up the Case." "Waiting For Confession." "This Could Happen To You!" The billboards were erected by James Fulton, father of Katherine Fulton Page, who was frustrated at the Vidor Police Department's inability to solve his daughter's 1991 murder.
