Sequels get a bad wrap in the entertainment industry, particularly horror sequels, which are often rushed into production to capitalize on the unexpected success of an original, and then cranked out on a semi-regular basis to keep the studio's coffers flowing... quality be darned. But the simple fact of the matter is that there's no particularly good reason why a sequel HAS to be bad, and as the 21st century rolls ever onward, we are seeing more and more examples of talented filmmakers making the most out of every franchise opportunity.
